SCHOOLS AND DOMESTIC

KMS were appointed by South & City College Birmingham as principal contractor to manage, install and complete the contract throughout the six-week main summer term holiday.

Phase 1: The initial works were to strip out the complete area of painting and decorating teaching bays, ceilings, staircases, air conditioning and electrics.

Phase 2: KMS constructed sixteen teaching bays using Gyproc stud and plasterboard's which formed mock living-rooms & bedrooms etc and included all plastering, doors, frames, architraves, and skirting as well as fireplaces and staircases to enable the students to learn their trade.
A new Painting & Decorating area was constructed on top of the existing mezzanine floor.

Electrics: The electrical works involved completely new three phase sub-mains with hard wired 110V transformers feeding multiple commando points with emergency lock off stop facility and new microwave LED strip lights and safety emergency escape lighting.

Phase 3: Once the site was completed and cleared, we then painted the ground floor concrete hardstanding using a resin-based floor paint in readiness for that area to be used as a training area for the mechanic apprentices.
